The original idea was to use sound bites to communicate the product with Sara because her resting position might make it difficult to see the LED. Our main concern was to make sure the product to worked with sara as well as the people around her. Each of the buttons/LED means something and originally, our plan was to have the Mp3 play that sound (“Yes”, “No”, “Suction”, “Bathroom”), so Sara can hear it herself through an earphone.
When she hears the right one that she’s looking for, it will play it out aloud on speaker so her guardians can attend to her specific desire. Here’s what we got to, but didn’t manage to finish it 🙁
This is the hooked up circuitry working for the outputs of LED’s.
When we changed it to an MP3 output, we needed to change the normal Lilypad board into a Lilypad mp3 board. From there, we tried to hook up everything and upload the sketch.
Some things went well after a long time of debugging, however, we didn’t quite get to a conclusion with this prototype.
Just as an update, at the end of the night, Jherin and I tried putting a raw mp3 file into the SD card of the micro processor. We randomly put the song of “Dancing queen by ABBA” and it played the first second of the song! (Watch the video at the end)
What we’ve learnt:
I think it’s because we have to use a raw mp3 file. (Of which can be easily done) 🙂 yay! But we can’t seem to solve, is the problem of the file only playing for 1 second.
