Team_JK_Prototype 1

Hello! Welcome to Team JK’s First Prototype page!

(Team Members: Jherin, Kelly and Klea)

A Brief Description:

Rather than starting with a glove in mind, we set out to see if an easier communication method could be used. We wanted something minimal that could prove to be easier for Sara to operate. We combined some of our earlier sketches and landed on the idea of an arm rest that could later on be used to limit unintentional arm movement. The second component of our design is a panel of 4 buttons that could potentially be used for different purposes in the future.

Problem addressed:

Physically writing things out can be slow, potentially exhausting, and unnecessarily difficult for other types of communication.

Questions for testing:

a) Can she comfortably and consistently use the buttons?

b) Is the foam arm rest comfortable and in the right position?

c) Are there any preferred position for the arm rest to be ?
(mounted on wheelchair, in lap, on surface, etc…)
