Team JK _ Prototype 2 _ Instructions

Hello and Welcome to Team JK’s Second Prototype Instruction Page!

This time around, we have decided to try two very different ways of inputting data into our micro-controller to produce sound outputs that can help sara communicate her thoughts 🙂

Method No. 1

Here’s a Video on how it works…

To start using this prototype, you will have to connect each alligator clip onto it’s designated area of contact. The contacts are the pieces of conductive fabric that are located around the foam. They are labelled with a letter that corresponds to the colour of the alligator clip that should be there

B = Black Clip

Y = Yellow Clip

R = Red Clip

W = White Clip

G = Green Clip

 The next part is the velcro wrist wrap.

Attach the strap onto sara’s hand so that her arm can be attached to the foam without much difficulty

Questions:

1: Does the strap help Sara use the joystick?

2: how is her hand positioned when using it?

3: Can she move the joystick enough to trigger multiple sounds?

Method No. 2

For this prototype, you’ll use the same electronics and clips as Method 1. The white and colored clips can be attached to any of the contacts on the side and the black clip attaches to the bottom contact underneath the panel. Have sara use the stylus as if she were writing to trigger the different contacts inside the panel.

Questions:

1: Is Sara able to trigger the sounds using the stylus?

2: Is the stylus too thick or too thin?

3: Is there a preferred position or angle for the panel?
