FireFly

Using nail polish and glue gun to insulate conductive fabric and conductive thread respectively.

The idea is to make a firefly that glows when the wings touch to complete the circuit.

Materials Needed

Colorful Fabric

Nail Polish to match the color of the wings

Beads/Glitter for eyes (optional)

Conductive Fabric (Iron on)

Iron

Hot Glue Gun

Scissors

Thread

Conductive Thread

Needles

Yellow LED

Resistor

Coin Battery

 

Step 1: Cut out the firefly shapes

Step 2: Cut out conductive fabric and iron onto the wings

Step 3: Insulate the lower part of the wing

Step 4: Create a circuit with the LED, battery, resistor and the wings form the switch on the other side of the cloth

Step 5: Stitch on the wings using conductive thread to complete the circuit on the other side of the cloth

Step 6: Once the wings are on use nail polish to cover intersection of wing and cloth

Step 7: Use the glue gun to insulate the conductive thread
