Cosmos (Prototype2)

COSMOS (Second Prototype)

Goal

Through our second prototype Veda and I wanted to capture Sara’s thumb movement and give it a binary output. Sara’s thumb movement is very small and we used the ideal range we derived from our first prototype.

Process

I did most of the coding process. We decided to switch to a Arduino mini and use small speakers. While we made a bill of materials we tried to keep the weight of the components to a minimum. We also chose small parts and tried to build a integrated circuit.

We choose a stretchy fun fabric that Sara choose from our previous material samples. To insulate we used nail polish and tape. Veda also had some in between fabric that can make any type of fabric iron on.

Final Prototype

Moving the thumb triggers different tunes on the two different gloves. This binary action can be used as a ‘yes’ and ‘no’.

I hope that Sara’s thumbs activate the tunes at the right range. Looking forward to hearing from her.
